BISSA are pleased to announce that the ANNUAL SPORTSMANS DINNER 2008 will be held at the SHAW CROSS BOYS CLUB on FRIDAY the 7th MARCH 2008. It will be 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
MC will be the superb Mr. John Boyd, Guest Speaker will be Mr. Mike Summerbee of Man City and England fame.
Tickets are available now at a cost of £30, includes full 3 course dinner and events during the evening, including auction and 50/50 draw.

HONOURS: England full and Under-23 international. First Division championship medal (1968), Second Division (1966), FA Cup (1969), Football League Cup (1970).
1959: Signed apprentice terms for Swindon Town where he played 218 matches on the wing.
1965: He was the first player brought to Maine Road by Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison, made his debut at Middlesbrough in August.
1966: He was a key figure in the City team that won the Second Division title.
1969: Helped Manchester City beat Leicester 1-0 in the FA Cup Final at Wembley.
1970: Missed European Cup Winners Cup Final because of injury but was awarded a medal.
1975: Sold to Burnley by Tony Book after 355 appearances.
1976: Free transfer to Blackpool.
1977: Free transfer to Stockport County.
1978-79: Stockport County Player/manager. He resigned October 10, 1979.
1980: Free transfer to Mossley Town but only played one game.
1981: retired.
Summerbee made 716 appearances (inc more than 400 games for City), playing for Swindon, Man City, Blackpool, Burnley and Stockport. Also capped 8 times for England
Mike made over 200 appearances at Swindon prior to his departure which saw him move to Maine Road, Manchester City in 1965 for a bargain £35,000. He was a tenacious winger, who also made a number of appearances at Centre Forward. The crowds were delighted with the stylish Summerbee whose league debut against Middlesbrough was on August 21st 1965. Mike's name first appeared on the score sheets when the Blues secured a consolation goal in a 3-1 defeat by Birmingham on December the same year.
As a player his sheer presence created havoc in opposing defences, and many chances for his colleagues. Joe Mercer once said about Mike: "Mike is the bravest player with his back to the game I have ever seen. He is strong when he is going past them. When he is buzzing he takes them all apart. He is very positive and quite a character." The swinging sixties scene in Manchester saw Mike and United's George Best making quite an impression off the field as well as on it.
Summerbee scored 67 goals during his City career in all competitions between 1965 and 1975. In the mid-1960s England Coach Sir Alf Ramsey was looking closely at City personnel, and he eventually chose seven Maine Road players to represent England. The first to receive this honour was Mike Summerbee who’s initial England outing was in an under-23 game against Turkey. Together with Colin Bell and Francis Lee he represented England in the 1970 World Cup in Mexico.
He should have been a regular in the international side for many years. As it was he made his debut in against Scotland in 1968 at just 25, and made his eighth and final appearance against the USSR in 1973.
