Exciting young half-back Louis Jouffret will remain a Bulldog for the 2019 season.
Louis arrived at the club in late July. With a man of the match performance on his home debut against Swinton Lions, in the final game of the regular season, a hand in a number of tries in the games since and a showstopping display away at Barrow last Sunday, he is quickly becoming a crowd favourite.
The signing has been made thanks to the support of BISSA, the Batley Independent Supporters’ Squadbuilder Association. BISSA Chairman Colin Bottomley told us “BISSA are delighted to have been able to support the club in retaining Louis Jouffret for next season. Once again our members, through their valuable contributions, have been instrumental in helping the club formulate this deal”
Having played his youth Rugby League with Avignon and Barbentane, Louis then moved to the Warrington U19 Academy. He returned to France to play in the French Elite with the Catalans’ reserve team before a spell at Whitehaven in Championship in 2015.
After this he was back in Perpignan for 2 French Elite seasons, and had a spell with Toulouse in the Championship last season. In addition he has international honours, having represented France at U16 and U19 levels.
Louis himself is thrilled to be staying with the club “I’m very happy here at Batley and am looking forward to a full season with the squad. I’d like to thank the supporters and everyone at the club for the warm welcome I have had and BISSA and their members for making the move possible.”
Head Coach Matt Diskin is also delighted to get his man “We’re building well looking towards next season. Louis is a great signing for us, he’s already a key member of the squad and we’re thrilled to have him on board for 2019”
